WE HAVE MOVED ✈️
Dr. Hayek has accepted a position as Chief Transformation Officer, and Chair of Internal Medicine & Surgery at University of Texas Medical Branch! Dr. Hayek is still a collaborator, but his studies at the University of Michigan are now under leadership of Dr. Monika Leja.
Please forward all collaboration inquiries to Penney Kunkle: pkkunkle@utmb.edu
We sought to derive and validate a pre-Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) score for cardiovascular risk stratification of HSCT candidates. We identified subset variables of most predictive post-HSCT cardiovascular events and developed point-based risk score using hazard ratios. The CARE-BMT risk score is easy to calculate and can be a useful tool for clinicians to identify patients high-risk for cardiovascular events undergoing HSCT before transplant and guide long-term monitoring.
The Cardiac Biomarkers lab is a quickly growing lab with both clinical and basic research projects. Our research centers on the novel use of biomarkers for predictive and prevention-based diagnoses and disease treatment. The lab's ultimate goal is to use high-throughput technology to personalize patient care.
